I have a problem about my asshole friend, help??

So I was chillin with everyone and we got some leftover fireworks and we messed around, you know lighting them behind them when there not looking, i was in a golfcart and another kid drove, and then we drove past and I threw a firecracker pack and it landed and everyone ran and it blew up, then all the sudden, the strongest kid there, gets all pissed even though he did it to me like 40 times, and he takes the lighter and my shoe and burns all my laces. Now the laces are in like 5 pieces each lace. My parents dont know. I dont have any other shoe laces. I have another pair with black laces, but if I take those out, then I wont have any laces for those.
So I already know he wont pay for them, and I dont hang out with him a lot so if I tell my parents what happened they’ll get really mad at him and I dont want that. He does this stuff to people a lot. Do you guys know any good lies or something so I can get my mom to buy new ones? Or just what do you think I should do?

Gee it sounds like he really needs to learn a lesson on how to treat other people!! Dont worry, shoe laces dont cost that much from the supermarket. $2 at the most. You could try telling your parents the truth but omit the part about you playing with the fireworks, or you could say a friends dog chewed them when you were at his house.
